Brian Canitz
B i o g r a p h y
Brian Canitz grew up in the beautiful state of Colorado and chose to stay close to pursue an education close to home. He is double majoring in Music Performance and Biological Sciences. He is excelling in both areas and has a cumulative 3.6 GPA.
Brian has participated in many ensembles and attended different summer camps to further his development on his instrument. He was a member of the Colorado Honor Band Association (CHBA), having received direction from Mr. Orlando Otis, and also attended CHBA Summer Camp held at Colorado State University. He also auditioned for and was selected to play in the Colorado Continental League Honor Band, playing various wind ensemble and orchestral pieces with the best district musicians.
During the summer of 2012 he received scholarships to attend the Lamont School of Music Pre-College Music Academy and the Mendez Brass Institute. There he was exposed to new chamber and orchestral music and took private lessons from Carl Lenthe, principal trombone instructor at the University of Indiana at Bloomington, and Dr. Brian Bowman, principal euphonium instructor at the University of North Texas at Denton.
